Janey Who is Janey? Me of course! As you can probably tell, I am passionate about Redcliffe. I can't claim to be born here, but my family moved to Margate from Brisbane when I was very young, so I grew up here.

My family owned a mixed business located on Hornibrook Esplanade so I have a soft spot for small businesses on the Peninsula!

I've travelled all over the world and visited lots of interesting places, but I'm always happy to return to my own piece of heaven on the Peninsula.

My job keeps me very busy, but I still try to get out and about as much as I can around Redcliffe, especially on the weekends. I'm a fairly private person, but you might just see me at my favourite coffee shop or taking a late afternoon stroll along the beach; if you do, give me a wave and a smile.

Sorry, you can't - I'm not that type of girl!

Janey's Redcliffe was first created in 2004 and is a non-profit website run by volunteers. Our simple mission is to promote Redcliffe, not make money. I get frustrated visiting websites looking for information and being bombarded with advertising and commercial promotional material. I am determined Janey's Redcliffe won't ever be like that.

Redcliffe businesses and commercial organisations that have a lifestyle or entertainment aspect are warmly welcomed as members of Janey's Redcliffe and can list their services and events on the website for free. Janey's Redcliffe will not promote or endorse a specific business or event for commercial gain.

That doesn't mean, however, that I won't tell everyone about a place or event I think is great!

Over the years, there have been quite a few questions asked via the website that haven't been about Redcliffe, but have been about me. Although I consider myself a friendly gal, I do value my privacy. In the interest of satisfying your curiosity, however, I have posted some selected responses.

What do you really look like?

That's a common question for some reason. So here's a photo of me on this page to satisfy your curiosity. It was taken at Suttons Beach a ~~few years~~ long time ago at a friend's wedding. This is one of my favourite photos, thanks to the efforts of a professional wedding photographer and a glorious Redcliffe Spring day! The cartoon version of me that appears throughout the website is just that - a cartoon.

Are you actually a redhead?

Sorry, no. I did try being a redhead once - when I was at school. My friend dyed it for me, but unfortunately my hair turned out almost as orange as the images on this website!

Where in Redcliffe do you live?

I have actually lived in a few places on the Peninsula, but usually not far from the waterfront. I grew up in Margate (east of Oxley Avenue) and currently am not too far north of that, in Redcliffe central.

Are you single?

All I will say is that I am not married...

How old are you?

Oh dear, as if I am ever going to answer that one!

What is your starsign?

I was born in April, so that makes me an Aries. Do I fit the profile: enthusiastic, idealistic, passionate, romantic, confident, quick-witted, quick-tempered, impulsive and impatient? Yep!

What do you do for a living?

No, I'm not in real estate, marketing or hospitality, as some of you have suggested. And thanks ever so much to the person who thought I should try out as a model - very sweet of you. I did Marine Biology at Uni, which has allowed me to get a pretty amazing job in a great organisation. Actually, parts of my job suck, just like any other, but overall it's pretty cool :) Yes, kiddies, you can be a scientist and be cool!

Where did you go to school?

Do you do the website yourself?

Sorry, I'm not that much of a geek! Janey's Redcliffe is my baby, but all the technical stuff is handled by a dear friend of mine who runs Mad Ram Design.
